CBG is viewed as environmentally beneficial because it produces fewer greenhouse emissions than fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas. Biogas is often referred to as bio methane when used as fuel. When burned, biogas generates the same amount of heat as an equivalent volume of fuel.

Uses and Application:

Compressed bio gas, or CBG, is a sustainable energy source that may be used to generate electricity, heat, and transportation fuels. When organic waste is burned with natural gas in an oxygen-free environment, the decomposition process results in CO2 and methane emissions. These gases are forced through tubes at high pressure, which produces combustible gases like hydrogen and carbon monoxide.

When these gases are compressed into liquid form, they change into a substance known as CBG. It has been suggested that this type of fuel is not only more effective than fossil fuels, but also more environmentally benign. CBG is widely used to fuel automobiles or generate electricity in combined heat and power plants.

Manufacturing Process:

Compressed bio gas is created by using anaerobic digestion to break down organic molecules. First, a slurry made of the biomass and water is created. The addition of anaerobe bacteria to this slurry allows the biomass to be broken down without the requirement for oxygen. Between 60 and 65 degrees Celsius causes a reaction that produces gas like methane and carbon dioxide as well as solids like water, cellulose, and lignin. This process results in the production of two distinct types of biogas. One type, syngas, can be used in turbines just like natural gas. The other forms include compressed natural gas and biogas.

Benefits of Starting Compressed Biogas Plant Business:

  • Increase economic growth, provide jobs in rural communities, and promote independence.
  • Generate renewable energy while lowering greenhouse gas emissions from food and agricultural waste.
  • To improve air quality, produce natural gas fuel to power cars with fewer emissions.
  • To lessen reliance on fossil fuels, use waste streams as the feedstock for renewable energy facilities. Eliminating coal-fired power facilities will improve public health.
  • By supplying biofuel, dependence on petroleum can be reduced; save money over time as a result of declining natural gas prices; this alternative source of income is versatile enough to use any type of biomass in addition to animal manure, making it more environmentally friendly than diesel generators and simpler to start up with little upfront cost.

Market Size in India:

Compressed bio gas (CBG) or bio (CNG) facilities are expected to have a rapidly developing market in the upcoming years due to their high efficiency and low costs. In 2016, the market for CBGs was worth $2.6 billion USD; by 2025, that market is anticipated to be worth $4.1 billion USD. Globally, CNGs generated $5.7 billion USD in revenue in 2016, and by 2025, it’s expected to reach over $9 billion USD. One of the main factors influencing their rapid development is the fact that they perform better than traditional gas-fired power generation systems, which leads to cheaper fuel costs and a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

Global Market Outlook:

Between 2021 and 2028, the market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 5.4%, from USD 25.61 billion in 2021 to USD 37.02 billion in 2028. The reasons for the sudden rise in CAGR include the demand for and expansion of this business. This is due to escalating concerns about global climate change, fluctuating oil prices, and rising demand for cleaner fuels in the transportation industry. The plant turns biomass into biogas by eliminating oxygen from the mixture of gases.

The compressed gas must first be injected into pipelines at a high pressure of up to 2,500 pounds per square inch before being used as fuel for automobiles. For end user categories such passenger vehicles, buses, trucks, and vans as well as agricultural equipment, bio gas is the main fuel source. This market is expected to grow significantly during the estimated period as more countries priorities environmental sustainability and make sizeable expenditures in green technologies.
